Location & Directions
Clam Gulch State Recreation Area is located at GPS coordinates 59.2333° N, 151.3833° W, approximately 45 miles south of Soldotna and 17 miles north of Ninilchik. The campground is situated near mile marker 117 on the Sterling Highway. To get to the campground from Soldotna, take the Sterling Highway south for approximately 45 miles, then turn left onto Clam Gulch Road. The campground is located at the end of the road, near the mouth of the Kenai River.
The road to the campground is paved and well-maintained, but be aware that the Sterling Highway can be narrow and winding in some areas. During the summer months, the road can be busy with tourists and commercial fishing traffic, so be sure to drive defensively and follow all traffic laws. Campground Details
Clam Gulch State Recreation Area has a total of 106 campsites, including 75 RV sites, 20 tent sites, and 11 walk-in sites. The maximum RV length is 60 feet, and there are no dump stations or sewage hookups available.
